Our joint task today in Enterprise Communications is more pronounced than ever. We are required to use our communications platform as a tool to drive costs out of businesses while making our corporations even more efficient and profitable. We occupy a position in corporate America that others envy. Enterprise communications, when seen as an overall technology, is one of the few items that can attain these seemingly opposing objectives.
The revolution to VoIP has now shown itself for what it is: an enabler of technologies that transform how business operates. This revolution may very well be akin to the introduction of the computer to business. Once there, people found ways of using the computer that were quite surprising. Enterprise communications can have that effect because it is at the hub of perhaps the most difficult human task - communication. When they said that "one day" nearly everyone would have a computer, how were we to know that it would be called a cell phone. Perhaps Dick Tracy's wristwatch was the most prophetic... for now.
I call this "our joint task" and refer to the journey's objective saying that "we are required" because the corporations alone don't make this happen, the VAR's alone don't make this happen, nor do the manufacturer's of Enterprise Communications products make this happen alone. We are now in this together. Everyone has a part and needs to excel in their role. Being the liaison between how to employ this technology and what products are available is VDN's role. We take it seriously. We excel in our role and see it as constantly expanding.
We have but one mission: Make communications applications return profitability and efficiencies to our customers.
